I guess I want to tell you about goodbyes. How they don’t get easier with practice. How they wrench your soul. How they take who you were and force you into someone different.
I guess I want you to know that its okay to say goodbye. We say goodbyes daily: to the stars, to our housemates, to our breakfasts, to our beds. Goodbyes are always temporary; that’s important to remember. No matter who or what or when you’re saying goodbye to, it will always come around again. That’s when you get to say the opposite of goodbye. That’s when the goodbye loses its power and you are plopped right back in time to when you said the goodbye in the first place.
You don’t understand how you can say goodbye to love, but love is the easiest thing to say goodbye to. Its fragile, maybe the most fragile thing in the world, and that means that sometimes we’re so afraid to lose love that we have to say goodbye to it if we ever want to find it again.
I guess I want to tell you about goodbyes, but maybe I don’t have anything really to say.
